• Distance Learning Modified Grading Policy

    • Updated - 4/20/2020

EFWMA’s first priority is to ensure our students' need for normalcy, food, and mental  wellness is met. We understand the complications of schedules, obligations, and uncertainties during these times. Our goal is to support you by taking care of your child’s academic needs. You chose EFWMA because we guide students in transitioning from self centered to independence. Children who make better choices and work independently. It is in that light, we created our online grading procedures.

We are just “across” the board, no child is penalized for not owning a computer or for not being able to pick up a packet. Instead, we came up with a plan that works for everyone. It is not a one size fits all plan because we serve students with diverse needs.

      COVID 19 UPDATED GRADED POLICY

      • 3rd Nine Weeks- Ends March 27, 2020
        • Report Cards will be available April 10, 2020
        • The amount of grades students had before leaving for Spring Break will be sufficient for the 3rd Nine Weeks Report Card Grade (exceptions)
          • Grades from first two weeks of distance learning will be included IF they increase the student’s nine week grade
          • I (Incomplete) issued when grading issues can not be resolved adequately
          • Individual teachers may be looked at on an individual basis
          • Packet work (if used) pass/fail (from first 2 weeks)

        • Progress Reports will be emailed through Google Classroom to parents every 3 weeks.
        • Minimum nine grades per nine weeks
        • 2 required assessments-  One must be a performance based task. The other may be a multiple choice assessment IF it is possible to evaluate student processing
        • Packet work- students will turn in work digitally for grading by their teachers
        • Projects- projects may be assigned as long as they only require basic school supplies (such as pencil or paper) or are digital in nature and do not require additional materials to be purchased. Digital projects would only be for students attending Google Hangout instruction. Students picking up packets will either receive a paper-based project or will be exempt from projects.
        • Students will be given at least 1 week to complete assignments completed outside of class time.
      • Extra credit will be provided to everyone- Teachers decide what they will be and how to make it conducive to all of the hybrid learning opportunities we have available
